  • "William Knight has been a regular feature writer for Server Management since March 2005. His journalistic flair and expert knowledge of the IT industry enable him to contribute a wide range of articles, from technical analyses to strategic overviews. His style is clear and accessible and his numerous examples and analogies add spice and vigour to his writing. Just as importantly from an editor's point of view, his articles are always on time and on target."

William Knight

Bio_photo2Technology is fascinating, but like an apple at the bottom of a fruit bowl, it promises much but can leave a bad taste in the mouth when it fails to deliver. Commercial and technical realities rarely coincide but often pretend that they do.

I write about the issues surrounding the uptake of technology. After graduating as an engineer and working in the IT industry for 18 years I have a solid understanding of the technically possible, and a grasp of commercial pragmatism. My consulting career has taken me around the globe, onto the staff of a selection of the world's largest companies, and into the board rooms of start-up technology innovators.

This extensive expertise allows me to pose difficult questions, understand the answers, write insightful comment and in-depth features, while I will always maintain a readable, entertaining style.

Clients include The Guardian, The Designer, Computing, The Financial Times, Information Security Today, Server Management Magazine, ContractorUK, IEE Review, Gantthead, Java Developers' Journal and under a protective pseudonym, the Rockall times.

I currently live and work in Devon in the UK, contact details on the sidebar.
